When you enter an email address (email@example.com) it is not automatically “clickable”. This is fine as there may be times when you don’t want this to be the default behavior. However, in most cases your visitors expect to be able to click your address and send you an immediate message.
Here is a video showing you exactly how to do this on your own website. If you prefer I’ve also included the steps below.
Follow these steps to make an email address “clickable” in WordPress
- Open the page you want to add a clickable email to.
- Type your email as you normally would “firstname.lastname@example.org”.
Select the email address and click the paperclip icon (see screenshot)
- When you click the link button WordPress will automatically format it to be clickable. If you are adding your link manually just type it out like this > mailto:email@example.com
- Preview your page and save!
That’s all there is to it! Good luck and have fun!
